Sanitising washroom sinks

In this post we are going to cover best practice for sanitising washroom sinks.

Important: Always use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when undertaking any cleaning task and follow the manufacturer’s product use and where relevant dilution guidance.

Select an appropriate non-abrasive washroom cleaner or sanitiser and apply to a clean cloth or non-scratching scourer.

Use the cloth or sponge to clean the sink or basin, taking care to clean around any taps, overflow and drain.

Rinse the sink thoroughly and dry with a clean cloth or allow to air dry.

Remove persistent stains or marks with an appropriate non-abrasive cleaning product appropriately diluted (following the manufacturer’s instructions)

If you are cleaning a porcelain sink make sure that you have chosen products that will not damage the surface of the porcelain over time.

To descale the sink or basin choose an appropriate product diluted according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Apply to the sink thoroughly and dry with a clean cloth or allow to air dry.

Spray an anti-bactericidal cleaner into overflow and outlet pipes.
