Cleaning entrance matting

This blog post is about the best practice for cleaning entrance matting.

Important: Always use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when undertaking any cleaning task and follow the manufacturer’s product use and where relevant dilution guidance.

Ensure adequate ventilation to the area in which you are working, open doors and windows as necessary.

Place safety signs where they can be clearly seen.

Use a suitable vacuum cleaner on its most powerful setting. Vacuum each side of the mat several times, moving the nozzle slowly to enable the dirt to be collected. If the mat is wet you will need a wet/dry vacuum cleaner.

Remove any chewing gum by freezing or using a putty or similar knife.

Turnover the mat and clean the back using a clean cloth soaked in a detergent solution. Allow to dry.

Remove the mat or mats from the area as you clean them and place on a dry, clean surface.

Sweep or vacuum the floor underneath the matting.

Replace the mat.
